Reunion Day

We hope you were able to join us on this special day to reconnect with friends and acquaintances, and help support the investment in the future of Tecumseh graduates through our scholarship fund drive.

From continuous music and live performances by alumni artists, to opportunities for reconnecting with high school friends... we hope you enjoyed the memories!

Below is a list of some of the events held June 22nd, 2002.

Live Music!

Believe it or not, we've got four hours of incredible live music lined up that you won't want to miss, featuring alumni from our schools! The lineup is diverse and sure to please music lovers of all ages! And, perhaps best of all, there won't be a single note from "Stairway to Heaven"! (And that's our guarantee to you.)

  • Generation Gap (jazz)
featuring Harold (Hap) Ashenfelter ('47) on sax, whose regular gig these days is with the Dayton Jazz Orchestra. You're sure to bring back some memories with "Hap," Don Compton (bass), Tom Pompei (drums), and Jeff Huffnagle (keyboard).
  • Banjo Connection (music from the good ole days)
featuring Homer Dillahunt ('48). Banjo Connection is a fun group of 5 musicians reminiscent of the early 1900's with costumes of that era and songs from the Roaring Twenties, including many all-time favorites of the "Good Ole Days".
  • The Right Stuff Band (classic country)
featuring Calvin Brandenburg ('68). Three of the five band members formerly played with the "Crystal River Band". This newly formed group really gets down with your favorite country classics.
  • Kellie Hajjar ('77) (singer-songwriter)
Kellie performs all original music, and features light jazz, ballads, folk, and reggae. Kellie writes and sings by Patsy Cline's rule: "If you can't do it with feeling, then don't." Kellie's voice has been described as that of "silk flowing but with the richness of velvet." Among her greatest influences are Ella Fitzgerald, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, and Elvis Presley.
  • Blackberry Morning (folk)
Blackberry Morning has blended the sound of singing voices with sweet tones of the mountain dulcimer. Linda Carder Bowshier and Janie Morrow Taynor say that it is great to be singing again after all these years. You might remember these gals as part of the singing group called the Teentones (class of 1959) with Elaine Beatty Dorn. Linda and Janie are having fun singing and playing around the area. Blackberry Morning will be singing and playing folk music along with a few traditional tunes to keep your toes tapping.

performance schedule:
1:00-2:00 Banjo Connection
2:30-3:30 Generation Gap
3:50-4:25 Amazing Shaner
4:40-5:20 Kellie Hajjar
5:30-6:30 Blackberry Morning
7:00-8:00 Rite Stuff Band

Memorabilia Display!

When you live in the past like we do, you tend to have a large assortment of things from your glory days to remind you of how it felt to be young, cool, and in-the-know. Or at least how it felt to want to be young, cool, and in-the-know. We've assembled everything we could get our grubby little paws on so we'll have YOU to reflect on our youths with! You'll be impressed at the vast amount of pictures, articles, and assorted items we've got laid out.

Wanna share some of your valued treasures? Be sure to let us know first by clicking here!

And you'll definitely not want to miss Dave Suther's enormous multi-volume hand-collected scrapbooks from 1948 - present! They're incredible, and packed with every article ever written concerning the schools. If you like sports, you'll have to see these!

Classic and Custom Auto Show!

Remember that '68 Chevy Nova you used to have? The one with the primer grey paint job? Or was it the '79 Pinto wagon with bucket seats? A '57 Bel-Air? Did yours come with the sunroof on the floor, like mine did? Relive the days of big, bad muscle cars and vintage power and style. If you really do like those sleek newer cars (Nissan Skyline, anyone?), there's some of that for you, too! Have a sweet hotrod? A slick speedster? Come and show it off (let us know first by clicking here)!

Memorial Dedication

We will pay special tribute during the reunion to honor classmates and faculty who are no longer with us. Reverend Ron Watterly ('72), pastor with the United Brethren in Christ Church, Lansing Michigan, will speak at 2:10 pm.

We dedicate this event, in loving memory, to those of us who have passed beyond our physical world. We miss you all dearly and greatly, and none of us would be who we are without your presence in our otherwise humble lives. Thank you, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, friends and lovers. You shall all live on forever in our hearts and minds.
None of it, not a second, was in vain.

DJ Jim Stewart!

Jim Stewart, of the class of '66, and his "Let's Just Dance" DJ service, will be providing a wide variety of music in between bands. They say that the music we listen to becomes the soundtrack of our lives, and Jim's got all those soundtracks on CD!

Is there a particular song you'd like to hear to bring back that favorite memory? Be sure to stop by the DJ booth to let Jim know!

Reunion T-Shirts!!

How about a little memento to remind you of this special day? This red Beefy T is available in Large, XL and XXL for only $10 each. The Tecumseh logo with reference to the all-class reunion will be imprinted on the back. The left chest will be customized with your class year! We will hold it for you to pick up on reunion day. Sorry, no t-shirts will be mailed in advance or after the event. Pre-order your custom designed t-shirt by letting us know on the registration form by clicking here!

50/50 Raffle!

Dig deep and get ready for another all-time favorite fund-raising venue.

Throughout the event day, committee members will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets with half the pot waiting for you!

Your support is appreciated and odds of winning may be better than in Las Vegas!

Antique Tractor and Farm Equipment Display!

We want to pay tribute to the farm heritage in this school district. Kudos to all who still carry it on!

Check out some of the vintage farm equipment on display! Compare them to the monstrosities built today! And, if you would like to include yours in the show, be sure to register with coordinator Elwood Leathley ('47) at (937) 845 - 0169.

Caricatures by Walt!

In 1987 Walt Kaye began working through entertainment agencies drawing caricatures at company events, parties and picnics on a part-time basis. After retiring from NCR as a graphic designer in 1994, he started drawing caricatures full-time. Walt and his wife Kay have three grown Tecumseh alumni daughters, who also help out occasionally.

For an additional fee, Walt Kaye will be on hand to capture the moment with you and yours. And, 15% of the revenue goes to support the all-class reunion event!

Tarot Readings by Tillie Jamison!

Unlike TV charlatans and strange carnival ladies with extra digits, alumni Tillie (Fultz) Jamison ('65) has a solid history of foretelling current and future events with the mysterious and enigmatic Tarot cards. You might have seen her at the New Boston Fair, or Ye Olde Trail Tavern in Yellow Springs, where she moonlights on Saturdays after a long week of teaching.

Come see for yourself what all the fuss is really about. A small fee applies for this service, with 15% of the revenue going to support the all-class reunion event!

Illusionist Bill Shaner!

Another New Boston Fair regular, class of '47 alumnus Bill Shaner's spectacular prestidigitations have mystified people for years. The Amazing Shaner has performed from Ohio to Vegas as well as having traveled to Europe. Audiences witness the impossible made possible. Shaner brings to the audience a blend of the past, present, and future all spun into mystery, myth, fun, comedy and magic sure to entertain and mystify the young and old alike! No wonder people call it "magic" - you'll be amazed at how easily he makes the impossible seem! And he doesn't even resort to using rodents as stage props!

THS Organizations Booth Fair!
