I’ve asked not to be paid for any of this, although it’s going to be pretty overwhelming to work all this into a rapidly shrinking allotment of free time. Resume fodder is enough for me for now, and I certainly can’t charge friends for services.

Shot over seven years by filmmaker John Dullaghan, this intimate portrait of writer Charles Bukowski reveals a tortured man who survived years of abuse to produce some of the most influential prose of his generation. Packed with interviews with friends and colleagues, the film also showcases rare footage culled from every phase of Bukowski's past, including a few of his more explosive public readings in the 1960s.

- Shipped: The Short Films of David Lynch
  Shipped on 11/05/08. A must-see for fans of the legendary auteur David Lynch, this collection features six short films from the master of the macabre. Spanning the director's career, from early experiments to more fully realized visions, also contains the shorts "Six Men Getting Sick," "The Alphabet," "The Grandmother," "The Amputee," "The Cowboy and the Frenchman" and "Lumiere." Each film is preceded by an introduction from the director.

- 001- Live Flesh
  One of director Pedro Almod�var's best films recounts the story of Victor, born on a bus to prostitute Pen�lope Cruz. As a troubled teen, Victor is in the apartment of drug addict Elena (Francesca Neri). He accidentally shoots a policeman and gets sent to prison. Years later, Victor learns Elena has married the now-paralyzed cop, and he begins to stalk her!
- 002- Stevie
  When director Steve James (Hoop Dreams) attended Southern Illinois University, he became Stevie Fielding's Advocate Big Brother. Stevie was a demanding, hyperactive child living a heartbreaking life. When James relocated to Chicago to begin a film career in 1985, he ended his formal duties to Stevie. Ten years later, James again visits Stevie (now in his mid-twenties) and finds out what happened to him in the interim. Not a pretty story.
- 003- Transamerica
  Bree (Felicity Huffman) gets the shock of her life when a week before her final sex change surgery she discovers a son she didn't know she had. After bailing him out of jail the two set out on a cross-country journey riddled with road bumps. Huffman won numerous awards (and an Oscar nomination) for her role as a man longing to be a woman. Elizabeth Pena, Burt Young, Kevin Zegers and Graham Greene co-star.
- 004- The Quiet Earth
  After surviving the apocalypse, scientist Zac Hobson (Bruno Lawrence) faces a dangerous and uncertain new world in this thriller. The government researcher wakes up to find all human life on the planet completely destroyed. That is, until he encounters a lovely young woman (Alison Routledge) and a trucker (Pete Smith). Tension mounts as the survivors adapt to their new reality and try to learn to trust one another.
- 005- Short Cuts
  Robert Altman's mosaic masterpiece, based on Raymond Carver's short stories, presents several different characters -- including a baker, a chauffeur, a helicopter pilot, a phone-sex provider, a pool cleaner and a jazz singer -- whose stale lives intersect and are forever altered through simple twists of fate. This moving tale's all-star cast includes Tim Robbins, Madeleine Stowe, Bruce Davison, Andie MacDowell, Jack Lemmon and Anne Archer.
